Nigeria has long benefited from strong energy resources but in recent years the worldwide recession, US-China trade tensions and lack of reforms has hindered the economy. However as the new year starts there are signs that this year will not be much easier – with further uncertainty over oil prices, growing escalations and climate issues the outcome looks rough.
Although the global economic outlook seems difficult to gauge Nigeria may gain more from working closely with it’s local partners. Neighbours such as Ghana are further developing their own energy sectors and with bilateral projects there is the possibility of much success.
